the life meditation

The Death Meditation (Partner Edition)
Thank you so much for choosing to experience something new and deeply intimate that has been created by my heart finding healing in the trees. Not just any trees, but the one and only Coastal Redwoods of Big Sur on a private land that the public does not normally have access to. 2+ years ago I stumbled into a job where I got to live in these trees and slowly began teaching again.
When I found out I would be teaching something new to me called “Forest Bathing” I requested to be trained by another teacher that had been leading these meditations there for years. She kept telling me that I didn’t need training and that I just needed to show up and make it up. As someone who has never taught Forest Bathing and knew it had ancient roots, I did not think this was the best idea and insisted she train me, even if just once.
On the day she was supposed to come and teach it so I could watch, she cancelled on me an hour before the class. 10am rolled around and I was up to bat. 9 people arrived to meditate and all I could do was trust the trees and head into the forest. Each time I brought people in there, something more of me came out. Every single time, I felt like the trees were coloring me back in. Slowly, as I learned things about the Redwoods, and their resiliency, I in turn learned many things about myself.
You see, hope is a dangerous thing, and all it takes is one bold moment of the right conditions for life to spring back up again. If you are in a winter phase, like the trees who pull all of their remaining nutrients back down to their roots to survive their winter, may this be the spark of spring coming back into your veins. If you are in spring, may you continue to grow and bloom.
As for the logistics, you will have access to the Life Med for 30 days starting today. You might find yourself drawn to take it once or perhaps multiple times. You may also trade out watching the visuals and instead remain laying down with your eyes closed the entire time if that feels better in your body and you feel the pull to do so.
Try your best to carve out the space and time where no one will interrupt you and you can give this experience all of your focus. If possible, please wear clothing that feels cozy and does not pull your attention away (for example some of my yoga pants are tighter around the waist band and would be distracting for me. I would opt for comfy sweats instead.) and choose an environment that is not too hot or cold so that again your attention can focus on the journey. You may use a pillow or blanket under your head for comfort and a pillow or bolster underneath the knees can feel nice as well as an optional blanket in case you get cold to help you get cozier.
Lastly, this work is so important because it gives you a way to walk back to yourself, where you see things with fresh eyes and understanding. Forgiveness for yourself. Appreciation. Love. Empathy. And all of the emotions it might not have been safe to feel or process at the time you experienced them.
My advice is not to press the Life Med link until you are ready to fully take it. You are brave and wonderful and my favorite part of humanity for working on themselves and caring about the nature of both yourselves and the world. Together, we create the change. And it can start right here.
Thank you again for supporting Kei and I in our pursuit of heart and art. You help make our dreams come true and hopefully our work leaves you a little more inspired to give yourself to your own art - whatever that may be. Xo
Jade and Kei
